Nauti Spirits Distillery
A lifelong love of New Jersey’s Cape May Peninsula shaped a client’s dream of creating a coastal farm destination to showcase the manufacturing and enjoyment of artisan spirits. The destination also needed to support identity branding and symbiotic relationships with surrounding breweries, wineries, and local farm to table food movement.
On 60-acres of preserved coastal farmland, Nauti Spirits Distillery now transforms raw agricultural materials into finished, internationally acclaimed, craft spirits. Nauti is presently New Jersey’s largest distillery, and one of only a handful of true farm distilleries in the United States.
Bosco Architects provided design-build project delivery services from pre-design through architect-led construction management.

Agricultural Shapes
Nauti’s farm distillery is comprised of three building components: barrel aging-milling, mashing-fermentation-distillation-bottling, and tasting-retail. Buildings are clad in metal and connected with open-air courtyards that extend spaces into the surrounding farmland.
Framing The Process
Manufacturing is organized to provide visitors views of the production area while employees benefit from abundant natural daylight and ventilation. A back-lighted expansive showcase window frames the majestic copper stills, creating a branding feature visible from the tasting courtyard and adjacent bar.

Maritime History
The tasting room’s focal point is a custom wood bar crafted wholly from massive salvaged ship timbers sourced from a razed New Jersey factory that once manufactured military rations during both World Wars. The bar’s striking suspended brass and stainless light fixtures were salvaged from old U.S. merchant ships. The room is flanked by an accommodating tasting courtyard facing the stills, and to the west, by a patio positioned to capture the sunset over the fields.

Client Testimonial

“The design captured the essence of what we are—a unique, working, costal farm distillery. This elegantly functional and inviting facility is a destination that truly captures our brand. We are young, but growing into a regionally significant presence, and we look forward to working with Bosco Architects again when we expand. We value their thoughtful and professional project approach, and have benefitted immensely from their attention to detail and the creative construction solutions they employed.”
